Bio: - Donnie Light has worked as an engineer, graphics designer, Fire Chief, EMT and Information Technology specialist. He loves the Horror and Thriller genres, and strives to mix the two, offering readers a scary variety of fast-paced thrillers.
He currently lives in Northern Illinois where he is working on his next solo thriller as well as continuing his collaboration on the sequel to the vampire thriller, "Ripper's Row."
What will readers like about your book? - Dark Justice is a fast-paced suspense thriller with paranormal elements and a very unique plot line. The books tells the story of two men, separated by 200 years in time, but intertwined in a series of events that has it origins in the historical story, and its ending in modern times.
Why did you self publish? - I chose to self publish mainly to eliminate all of the drama associated with traditional publishing. I became an ebook fan when they first came out, and had my first novel published electronically by a British publisher. After that, it seemed that ebooks were going mainstream, so I jumped at the opportunity. I do my own cover art and ebook conversions, as well as the print layout for the POD books, and really enjoy every part of the process.
What is your writing process? - I have heard the term "discovery writer" and think that fits my writing style pretty well. I start out with an idea and key points, and then just let my characters define the details as I lead them in the direction I need to go.
How long does it take you to write your first draft? - I almost always have multiple writing projects going on, so it's hard to say how long it takes to finish a first draft. For this particular book, it took about three months of steady writing at night. However, I have then edited the book numerous times to get everything just right.
What inspired you to write this particular story? - The idea for Dark Justice came about while I was reading about slavery in early America, and my character Tobias, a runaway slave, was the result. I then tied his actions and story with another character, a modern-day paramedic who reflects a lot of my experience as being a paramedic. You will have to read the book to see how the two are connected!

I loved the dual story line, the quick pace and Donnie's style of writing. Donnie blended fantasy and his main characters' true struggle to stay alive. Really enjoyed the end, yet I never really wanted the book to end at all. Definitely a 5 star novel. Rebecca Scarberry
